About Tammy
My name is Tammy Dukette, and I am currently working toward my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Manhattan University, expecting to graduate in Spring 2026. I believe in meeting each person where they are and providing support that respects each individual’s unique journey. This person-centered approach is the foundation of my career, which spans over 15 years of working with individuals facing serious mental health challenges and other vulnerable circumstances.
Throughout my career, I have helped people navigate difficult situations, developed crisis programs, and supported families in need. My goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space for you to feel heard, understood, and empowered to make the changes you want in your life. I am here to support you—on your terms, at your pace.
I am comfortable and experienced in working with the LGBTQI community. I strive to provide an affirming, non-judgmental environment for individuals of all identities and backgrounds. I am also trained in working with older adults and have a master’s degree in gerontology. I am passionate about making mental health care accessible and ensuring everyone receives the support they deserve.

Theory and Philosophy
I help clients identify and reshape negative thought patterns that influence behaviors, empowering them to build healthier coping mechanisms and perspectives. The person-centered foundation ensures that clients are always in control of their journey, feeling supported, understood, and valued without judgment.
I am committed to creating an environment where each client feels safe to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. My counseling philosophy is rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that each individual has an innate capacity for growth. By integrating evidence-based techniques with a compassionate and individualized
approach, I aim to help clients work toward their goals in a supportive and collaborative manner.
I am also experienced in working with the LGBTQI community, older adults, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to provide affirming, accessible care to all, ensuring every individual receives the support they need to thrive.
Modalities
I utilize a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a person-centered approach to provide individualized care that addresses each client's unique needs. CBT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, helping clients develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. By combining this with a person-centered method, I ensure that clients are always empowered and in control of their therapeutic journey, fostering a space of unconditional positive regard and empathy.
My work is also influenced by my experience in supporting diverse populations, including the LGBTQI community and older adults. This inclusive approach is designed to meet each person where they are, offering the tools and support necessary to promote lasting growth and well-being.
